- No need to look up commands – everything can be done with a click
- Firefox browser preconfigured
- Autodarts tools preinstalled
But why Linux Mint? And why XFCE – and what does it mean?
Efficient Autodarts setup with Linux Mint XFCE
Autodarts places certain demands on system performance – as does the underlying operating system. Especially on mini PCs or older systems, this combination can quickly lead to performance issues.
Since Autodarts itself cannot be modified, choosing an optimized operating system offers the greatest leverage for increased efficiency. Linux Mint is an excellent choice here: it is based on Ubuntu, is known for its high stability and low resource usage, and at the same time offers a user-friendly interface that is visually and functionally similar to Windows.
With the XFCE desktop environment, system load can be reduced even further. XFCE is lightweight, fast, and avoids unnecessary visual effects – without sacrificing clarity or ease of use.
This makes Linux Mint XFCE the ideal platform for Autodarts:
-
Minimal resource consumption, ideal for mini PCs
-
High stability in continuous operation
-
Easy to use, even for users switching from Windows
-
Lower hardware costs with the same performance
This keeps the Autodarts setup reliable, high-performing, and cost-efficient – even on lower-powered devices.

Update 01/09/2026
There have been increasing issues with Mozilla Firefox not integrating the profile correctly. This has now been changed. The profile is no longer integrated during installation, but later via a script. This process is documented in the Autodarts Setup Guide.Additionally, desktop icons have been added to start and stop the Autodarts client. This eliminates the need to enter commands in the terminal.

If you installed my image before 01/09/2026, you can easily install these updates afterward.
Open a terminal and enter the following command, then press Enter:
sudo curl -fsSL http://linux.both3d.com/update.sh | bash
You will be prompted to enter the password you set during the Linux installation.
After installation, you can close the terminal and you will find the icons on your desktop.
